Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has urged the Union government to establish a specialised Ministry of Artificial Intelligence. This ministry would be responsible for developing legislation aimed at preventing the misuse of AI, protecting national security, and ensuring that AI technologies are utilised for the purposes of social justice and the alleviation of poverty, he said.
The Chief Minister also urged the establishment of an India AI Council, on the lines of the GST Council or NITI Aayog, as an apex body for AI policy and coordination.
Revanth Reddy further suggested that India should host AI Summits every six months in different cities to maintain momentum and global engagement.
Delivering the keynote address at the India-AI Impact Summit 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi on Friday, the Chief Minister invited global and national institutions to partner with Telangana in advancing AI innovation and governance.
Addressing leading policymakers, global technology experts, innovators and industry leaders, the Chief Minister described Artificial Intelligence as “mankind’s greatest invention” and stated that the world is witnessing a transformational moment comparable to the discovery of fire, the invention of the wheel, and the Industrial Revolution.
Congratulating the Union government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Union Minister for Electronics & IT Ashwini Vaishnaw for organising the summit, the Chief Minister emphasised that AI represents not just technological advancement but a fundamental shift in human capability — combining intelligence, autonomy and decision-making power.
He observed that while earlier inventions enhanced human physical strength, AI now challenges human intellectual supremacy and, when combined with robotics, creates systems with both mental and physical capabilities.
The Chief Minister stated that India must not miss the AI revolution as it did the Industrial and Manufacturing Revolutions. While India excelled in the services and software sectors, it did not create global technology products.
He stressed that India must move from being only a user of global platforms to becoming a producer and owner of AI technologies.
